Imagine if your pet needed cancer treatment costing thousands of dollars. Having paid the bill you submit a claim to your insurer, only to be told that the $6,000 cover you thought you had does not apply - their maximum payment for cancer is $800 and you've already been paid half of that for diagnosis. You get another cheque for $300!

Pet Protect has no hidden exclusions – what you see is what you get. For example, our Extra Care Plan total cover may only be $6,000, but (within six months of the initial event) $6,000 is exactly what you can claim. The only time we impose a limitation on cover is when your dog requires treatment for cruciate ligament problems.

Other companies often have deceptive sub-limits in their fine print. For example, they may advertise a higher cover level than us while having a limit of only a few hundred dollars for cancer treatment or obstructions (eg. when your dog swallows a ball).

Yet these are some of the most expensive common conditions your pet may face! They will then add these deceptive sub-limits together and represent the total cover as 'up to' this total, knowing that your chances of claiming these amounts together is negligible. They will also typically include initial diagnosis within these sub-limits, leaving very little cover for actual treatment.

Pet Protect doesn't impose arbitrary limits on the most serious conditions your pet might face, nor limit coverage of diagnosis. This means you can claim more under one of our policies when it really counts.

Pet Protect Insurance is a underwritten by IAG New Zealand Limited (Insurance Australia Group). IAG owns well-known and respected insurance brands NZI and State. NZI was named Insurer of the Year at the General Insurance Industry Awards in 2006 and 2007.

Pet Protect benefits from IAG's AA- (Very Strong) "Standard and Poor" rating, offering further security and confidence to our policy holders.

Speedy Settlement

Pet Protect cannot pre-approve claims because of cost variations between clinics and regions, so we do require you to pay the full costs of veterinary care first. However, at Pet Protect we aim to provide a swift claims service, with payment direct credited into your bank account within 15 working days for approved claims.

Expertise

Pet Protect underwriting and claims are processed by trained veterinary nurses. This means that they can deal with most enquiries straight away and can take a professional perspective of the health of your pet.
